Power to Change

Power to Change Logo

Monday the twenty-fourth of September, two thousand and seven: after 40 years of ministry Campus Crusade for Christ, Canada has changed their name.

We are excited, proud and thrilled to announce that the new name is Power to Change. Officially changing today, this new name comes with a revolutionary and daring new vision to reach 500 of the major cities in the world by 2020. Based on a strategy centered around a Faith Adventure we hope to fulfill the Great Commission by helping people discover a personal relationship with Jesus, experience the fullness of the Holy Spirit and inspire others to proclaim that Jesus is the power to change.

Here is a quick rationale outlining the long and arduous process that has put this name as the number one choice. After much prayer the Lord has lead us to use Power to Change because:

  • We received survey results from 65% of our staff and 20% of all partners showing that Power to Change is the strongest name. It ranked highest on First Impression, Mission, New Vision, being Bold & Passionate, Innovative and Inspiring/Visionary among the final name choices.
  • Objective maintains to mobilize, train and equip Christians and the church to spiritually reproduce.
  • Carries a legacy of bringing churches and the body of Christ together on a common goal.
  • Expresses the heart’s desire of all our ministries that Jesus is the power to change campuses, families, athletes, governments, culture, you and more.
  • Spiritually neutral to the general public but is highly spiritual for Christians, especially when joined with the world cross symbol.
  • Begs a question from the non-Christian which we want to answer.
  • Current Power to Change strategy has a successful history and visible recognition in some parts of the world.

Our vision is to be a community of followers of Jesus Christ deeply committed to one another and vitally motivated by His command and His love to go into all the world and share the power of Christ and proclaim the Good News.

  • We will emphasize the faith adventure of walking with God in the power of the Holy Spirit.
  • We will be an organization where our people regularly grow in maturity and capacity to serve with effectiveness and joy.
  • We will develop a core of ministries that implement creative and continuously improving city-focused strategies.
  • We will promote a passionate concern for the entire world.
  • We will recognize our wider obligations to serve in God’s name.
  • We will equip and develop our staff and volunteers with outstanding resources and ministry tools.
  • We will develop relevant, highly appealing evangelistic messages that reach effectively through key societal domains.
  • We will invest in the Church and ministry volunteers.
  • We will love. For without love, all is meaningless.

This vision will continue to evolve as we hear from the Lord and move with Him to reach the lost and live life to the fullest. It is the short version and encompasses all 15 of our ministries in a glance. Each ministry focuses more and more specifically on a need within society.

Lastly, I have had the pleasure to join the team working on the name change and have been the main designer for the new visual strategy. Exciting times and I sometimes can’t believe that I am here doing these things. Praise be to God for without Him I am nothing. Blessed be His name!

I return to Ontario October 2 and will be so happy to see you all again. I have missed you greatly and am filled with joy in anticipation upon our meeting again. I have so much to share about what God has been doing in my life and what God is doing in the world.

Grace be with you always,
Bill Vaxevanis

    Hello from Pap/Mom and Mark,
We have just read your article, and saw your new logo, clearly impressed.
What your organization is striving for, is evident in your words, and we hope other organizations will learn from your example. As long as you put God first and honour Him, and do His will, He will bless you and your organization!!
From what we read, we realize that you are deeply committed and are further maturing in the Lord, which we are grateful to God for that. “logo” is a greek word, did you know that? lol. C U SOON!
